{"identifier":"/us/usc/t10/s1097a","title":10,"num":"\u00a7\u202f1097a.","heading":"TRICARE Prime: automatic enrollments","text":"\u00a7\u202f1097a.\nTRICARE Prime: automatic enrollments\n(a)\nAutomatic Enrollment of Certain Dependents.\u2014\n(1) In the case of a dependent of a member of the uniformed services who is entitled to medical and dental care under\n(A) shall automatically enroll the dependent in TRICARE Prime if the member is in pay grade E\u20134 or below; and\n(B) may automatically enroll the dependent in TRICARE Prime if the member is in pay grade E\u20135 or higher.\n(2) Whenever a dependent of a member is enrolled in TRICARE Prime under paragraph (1), the Secretary concerned shall provide written notice of the enrollment to the member.\n(3) The enrollment of a dependent of the member may be terminated by the member or the dependent at any time.\n(b)\nAutomatic Renewal of Enrollments of Covered Beneficiaries.\u2014\nAn enrollment of a covered beneficiary in TRICARE Prime shall be automatically renewed upon the expiration of the enrollment unless the renewal is declined.\n(c)\nRegulations and Exceptions.\u2014\nThe Secretary of Defense shall prescribe regulations, including procedures, to carry out this section.
