{"identifier":"/us/usc/t10/s948a","title":10,"num":"\u00a7\u202f948a.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f948a.\nDefinitions\nIn this chapter:\n(1)\nAlien.\u2014\nThe term \u201calien\u201d means an individual who is not a citizen of the United States.\n(2)\nClassified information.\u2014\nThe term \u201cclassified information\u201d means the following:\n(A) Any information or material that has been determined by the United States Government pursuant to statute, Executive order, or regulation to require protection against unauthorized disclosure for reasons of national security.\n(B) Any restricted data, as that term is defined in section 11 y. of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 (\n42 U.S.C. 2014(y)\n(3)\nCoalition partner.\u2014\nThe term \u201ccoalition partner\u201d, with respect to hostilities engaged in by the United States, means any State or armed force directly engaged along with the United States in such hostilities or providing direct operational support to the United States in connection with such hostilities.\n(4)\nGeneva convention relative to the treatment of prisoners of war.\u2014\nThe term \u201cGeneva Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War\u201d means the Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War, done at Geneva\nAugust 12, 1949\n(5)\nGeneva conventions.\u2014\nThe term \u201cGeneva Conventions\u201d means the international conventions signed at Geneva on\nAugust 12, 1949\n(6)\nPrivileged belligerent.\u2014\nThe term \u201cprivileged belligerent\u201d means an individual belonging to one of the eight categories enumerated in Article 4 of the Geneva Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War.\n(7)\nUnprivileged enemy belligerent.\u2014\nThe term \u201cunprivileged enemy belligerent\u201d means an individual (other than a privileged belligerent) who\u2014\n(A) has engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners;\n(B) has purposefully and materially supported hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners;
