{"identifier":"/us/usc/t14/s2924","title":14,"num":"\u00a7\u202f2924.","heading":"Child development center employees","text":"\u00a7\u202f2924.\nChild development center employees\n(a)\nTraining.\u2014\n(1)\nIn general.\u2014\nThe Commandant shall establish a training program for Coast Guard child development center employees and satisfactory completion of the training program shall be a condition of employment for each employee of a Coast Guard child development center.\n(2)\nTiming for new hires.\u2014\nThe Commandant shall require each employee of a Coast Guard child development center to complete the training program established under paragraph (1) not later than 6 months after the date on which the employee is hired.\n(3)\nMinimum requirements.\u2014\nThe training program established under paragraph (1) shall include, at a minimum, instruction with respect to\u2014\n(A) early childhood development;\n(B) activities and disciplinary techniques appropriate to children of different ages;\n(C) child abuse and neglect prevention and detection; and\n(D) cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other emergency medical procedures.\n(4)\nUse of department of defense programs.\u2014\nThe Commandant may use Department of Defense training programs, on a reimbursable or nonreimbursable basis, for purposes of this subsection.\n(b)\nTraining and Curriculum Specialists.\u2014\n(1)\nSpecialist required.\u2014\nThe Commandant shall require that at least 1 employee at each Coast Guard child development center be a specialist in training and curriculum development with appropriate credentials and experience.\n(2)\nDuties.\u2014\nThe duties of the specialist described in paragraph (1) shall include\u2014\n(A) special teaching activities;\n(B) daily oversight and instruction of other child care employees;\n(C) daily assistance in the preparation of lesson plans;\n(D) assisting with child abuse and neglect prevention and detection;
