{"identifier":"/us/usc/t15/s8951","title":15,"num":"\u00a7\u202f8951.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f8951.\nDefinitions\nIn this subchapter:\n(1)\nContaminant\nThe term \u201ccontaminant\u201d means any physical, chemical, biological, or radiological substance or matter in water.\n(2)\nContaminant of emerging concern; emerging contaminant\nThe terms \u201ccontaminant of emerging concern\u201d and \u201cemerging contaminant\u201d mean a contaminant\u2014\n(A) for which the Administrator has not promulgated a national primary drinking water regulation; and\n(B) that may have an adverse effect on the health of individuals.\n(3)\nFederal research strategy\nThe term \u201cFederal research strategy\u201d means the coordinated cross-agency plan for addressing critical research gaps related to detecting, assessing exposure to, and identifying the adverse health effects of emerging contaminants in drinking water developed by the Office of Science and Technology Policy in response to the report of the Committee on Appropriations of the Senate accompanying S. 1662 of the 115th Congress (S.
