{"identifier":"/us/usc/t16/s583k\u20131","title":16,"num":"\u00a7\u202f583k\u20131.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f583k\u20131.\nDefinitions\nIn this subchapter:\n(1)\nAdministrative Unit\nThe term \u201cAdministrative Unit\u201d means a national forest or national grassland.\n(2)\nOutfitter or guide\nThe term \u201coutfitter or guide\u201d means an individual, organization, or business who provides outfitting or guiding services, as defined in section 251.51 of title 36, Code of Federal Regulations.\n(3)\nPartner\nThe term \u201cpartner\u201d means a non-Federal entity that engages in a partnership.\n(4)\nPartnership\nThe term \u201cpartnership\u201d means arrangements between the Department of Agriculture or the Forest Service and a non-Federal entity that are voluntary, mutually beneficial, and entered into for the purpose of mutually agreed-upon objectives.\n(5)\nPriority area\nThe term \u201cpriority area\u201d means a well-defined region on National Forest System land selected by the Secretary under\nsection 583k\u20133(a) of this title\n(6)\nSecretary\nThe term \u201cSecretary\u201d means the Secretary of Agriculture.\n(7)\nStrategy\nThe term \u201cstrategy\u201d means the National Forest System Trails Volunteer and Partnership Strategy authorized by\nsection 583k\u20132(a) of this title\n(8)\nTrail maintenance\nThe term \u201ctrail maintenance\u201d means any activity to maintain the usability and sustainability of trails within the National Forest System, including\u2014\n(A) ensuring trails are passable by the users for which they are managed;\n(B) preventing environmental damage resulting from trail deterioration;\n(C) protecting public safety;
