{"identifier":"/us/usc/t16/s668ee","title":16,"num":"\u00a7\u202f668ee.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f668ee.\nDefinitions\nFor purposes of this Act:\n(1) The term \u201ccompatible use\u201d means a wildlife-dependent recreational use or any other use of a refuge that, in the sound professional judgment of the Director, will not materially interfere with or detract from the fulfillment of the mission of the System or the purposes of the refuge.\n(2) The terms \u201cwildlife-dependent recreation\u201d and \u201cwildlife-dependent recreational use\u201d mean a use of a refuge involving hunting, fishing, wildlife observation and photography, or environmental education and interpretation.\n(3) The term \u201csound professional judgment\u201d means a finding, determination, or decision that is consistent with principles of sound fish and wildlife management and administration, available science and resources, and adherence to the requirements of this Act and other applicable laws.\n(4) The terms \u201cconserving\u201d, \u201cconservation\u201d, \u201cmanage\u201d, \u201cmanaging\u201d, and \u201cmanagement\u201d, mean to sustain and, where appropriate, restore and enhance, healthy populations of fish, wildlife, and plants utilizing, in accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, methods and procedures associated with modern scientific resource programs.
