{"identifier":"/us/usc/t18/s3156","title":18,"num":"\u00a7\u202f3156.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f3156.\nDefinitions\n(a) As used in sections 3141\u20133150 of this chapter\u2014\n(1) the term \u201cjudicial officer\u201d means, unless otherwise indicated, any person or court authorized pursuant to\nsection 3041 of this title\n(2) the term \u201coffense\u201d means any criminal offense, other than an offense triable by court-martial, military commission, provost court, or other military tribunal, which is in violation of an Act of Congress and is triable in any court established by Act of Congress;\n(3) the term \u201cfelony\u201d means an offense punishable by a maximum term of imprisonment of more than one year;\n(4) the term \u201ccrime of violence\u201d means\u2014\n(A) an offense that has as an element of the offense the use, attempted use, or threatened use of physical force against the person or property of another;\n(B) any other offense that is a felony and that, by its nature, involves a substantial risk that physical force against the person or property of another may be used in the course of committing the offense;
