{"identifier":"/us/usc/t18/s3267","title":18,"num":"\u00a7\u202f3267.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f3267.\nDefinitions\nAs used in this chapter:\n(1) The term \u201cemployed by the Armed Forces outside the United States\u201d means\u2014\n(A) employed as\u2014\n(i) a civilian employee of\u2014\n(I) the Department of Defense (including a nonappropriated fund instrumentality of the Department); or\n(II) any other Federal agency, or any provisional authority, to the extent such employment relates to supporting the mission of the Department of Defense overseas;\n(ii) a contractor (including a subcontractor at any tier) of\u2014\n(I) the Department of Defense (including a nonappropriated fund instrumentality of the Department); or\n(II) any other Federal agency, or any provisional authority, to the extent such employment relates to supporting the mission of the Department of Defense overseas; or\n(iii) an employee of a contractor (or subcontractor at any tier) of\u2014\n(I) the Department of Defense (including a nonappropriated fund instrumentality of the Department); or\n(II) any other Federal agency, or any provisional authority, to the extent such employment relates to supporting the mission of the Department of Defense overseas;\n(B) present or residing outside the United States in connection with such employment; and\n(C) not a national of or ordinarily resident in the host nation.\n(2) The term \u201caccompanying the Armed Forces outside the United States\u201d means\u2014\n(A) a dependent of\u2014\n(i) a member of the Armed Forces;\n(ii) a civilian employee of the Department of Defense (including a nonappropriated fund instrumentality of the Department); or\n(iii) a Department of Defense contractor (including a subcontractor at any tier) or an employee of a Department of Defense contractor (including a subcontractor at any tier);\n(B) residing with such member, civilian employee, contractor, or contractor employee outside the United States;
