{"identifier":"/us/usc/t19/s2578b","title":19,"num":"\u00a7\u202f2578b.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f2578b.\nDefinitions\n(a)\nIn general\nAs used in this part:\n(1)\nAgency\nThe term \u201cagency\u201d means a Federal department or agency (or combination of Federal departments or agencies).\n(2)\nCommissioner\nThe term \u201cCommissioner\u201d means the Commissioner of Food and Drugs.\n(3)\nInternational standard-setting organization\nThe term \u201cinternational standard-setting organization\u201d means an organization consisting of representatives of 2 or more countries, the purpose of which is to negotiate, develop, promulgate, or amend an international standard.\n(4)\nSanitary or phytosanitary standard\nThe term \u201csanitary or phytosanitary standard\u201d means a standard intended to form a basis for a sanitary or phytosanitary measure.\n(5)\nInternational standard\nThe term \u201cinternational standard\u201d means a standard, guideline, or recommendation\u2014\n(A) regarding food safety, adopted by the Codex Alimentarius Commission, including a standard, guideline, or recommendation regarding decomposition elaborated by the Codex Committee on Fish and Fishery Products, food additives, contaminants, hygienic practice, and methods of analysis and sampling;\n(B) regarding animal health and zoonoses, developed under the auspices of the International Office of Epizootics;\n(C) regarding plant health, developed under the auspices of the Secretariat of the International Plant Protection Convention in cooperation with the North American Plant Protection Organization;
