{"identifier":"/us/usc/t20/s4020","title":20,"num":"\u00a7\u202f4020.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f4020.\nDefinitions\nFor purposes of this subchapter:\n(1) The term \u201casbestos\u201d means\u2014\n(A) chrysotile, amosite, or crocidolite; or\n(B) in fibrous form, tremolite, anthophyllite, or actinolite.\n(2) The term \u201cAttorney General\u201d means the Attorney General of the United States.\n(3) The term \u201cthreat\u201d or \u201chazard\u201d means that an asbestos material is friable or easily damaged, or within reach of students or employees or otherwise susceptible to damage (including damage from water, vibration, or air circulation) which could result in the dispersal of asbestos fibers into the school environment.\n(4) The term \u201clocal educational agency\u201d means\u2014\n(A) any local educational agency as defined in\nsection 7801 of this title\n(B) the governing authority of any nonprofit elementary or secondary school.\n(5) The term \u201cnonprofit elementary or secondary school\u201d means\u2014\n(A) any elementary school or secondary school as defined in\nsection 7801 of this title\n(B) any school of any agency of the United States.\n(6) The term \u201cschool buildings\u201d means\u2014\n(A) structures suitable for use as classrooms, laboratories, libraries, school eating facilities, or facilities used for the preparation of food;\n(B) any gymnasium or other facility which is specially designed for athletic or recreational activities for an academic course in physical education;\n(C) other facilities used for the instruction of students, for research, or for the administration of educational or research programs;
