{"identifier":"/us/usc/t20/s9832","title":20,"num":"\u00a7\u202f9832.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f9832.\nDefinitions\nIn this part:\n(1)\nAdvanced Placement or International Baccalaureate course\nThe term \u201cAdvanced Placement or International Baccalaureate course\u201d means\u2014\n(A) a course of college-level instruction provided to secondary school students, terminating in an examination administered by the College Board or the International Baccalaureate Organization, or another such examination approved by the Secretary; or\n(B) another highly rigorous, evidence-based, postsecondary preparatory program terminating in an examination administered by another nationally recognized educational organization that has a demonstrated record of effectiveness in assessing secondary school students, or another such examination approved by the Secretary.\n(2)\nEligible entity\nThe term \u201celigible entity\u201d means\u2014\n(A) a State educational agency;\n(B) a local educational agency; or\n(C) a partnership consisting of\u2014\n(i) a national, regional, or statewide nonprofit organization, with expertise and experience in providing Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate services; and\n(ii) a State educational agency or local educational agency.\n(3)\nLow-income student\nThe term \u201clow-income student\u201d means an individual who is determined by a State educational agency or local educational agency to be a child ages 5 through 19, from a low-income family, on the basis of data used by the Secretary to determine allocations under\nsection 6333 of this title\n42 U.S.C. 1751\n42 U.S.C. 601\n42 U.S.C. 1396\n(4)\nHigh concentration of low-income students\nThe term \u201chigh concentration of low-income students\u201d, used with respect to a school, means a school that serves a student population 40 percent or more of who are low-income students.\n(5)\nHigh-need local educational agency\nThe term \u201chigh-need local educational agency\u201d means a local educational agency or educational service agency described in 9812(3)(A)\n1\n1 So in original.
