{"identifier":"/us/usc/t22/s4603","title":22,"num":"\u00a7\u202f4603.","heading":"United States Institute of Peace","text":"\u00a7\u202f4603.\nUnited States Institute of Peace\n(a)\nEstablishment\nThere is hereby established the United States Institute of Peace.\n(b)\nStatus; restrictions\nThe Institute is an independent nonprofit corporation and an organization described in\nsection 170(c)(2)(B) of title 26\n(c)\nEstablishment and functions of an \u201cEndowment of the United States Institute for Peace\u201d\nAs determined by the Board, the Institute may establish, under the laws of the District of Columbia, a legal entity which is capable of receiving, holding, and investing public funds for purposes in furtherance of the Institute under this chapter. The Institute may designate such legal entity as the \u201cEndowment of the United States Institute for Peace\u201d.\n(d)\nLiability for acts within scope of authority\nThe Institute is liable for the acts of its directors, officers, employees, and agents when acting within the scope of their authority.\n(e)\nTrade name and trademark rights; vested rights protected; condition for use of Federal identity\n(1) The Institute has the sole and exclusive right to use and to allow or refuse others the use of the terms \u201cUnited States Institute of Peace\u201d, \u201cJennings Randolph Program for International Peace\u201d, \u201cSpark M. Matsunaga Medal of Peace\u201d, and \u201cEndowment of the United States Institute of Peace\u201d and the use of any official United States Institute of Peace emblem, badge, seal, and other mark of recognition or any colorable simulation thereof.
