{"identifier":"/us/usc/t22/s4803","title":22,"num":"\u00a7\u202f4803.","heading":"Designation of high risk, high threat posts","text":"\u00a7\u202f4803.\nDesignation of high risk, high threat posts\n(a)\nInitial designation\nNot later than 30 days after\nDecember 16, 2016\n(b)\nDesignations before opening or reopening posts\nBefore opening or reopening a diplomatic or consular post, the Secretary shall determine if such post should be designated as a high risk, high threat post.\n(c)\nDesignating existing posts\nThe Secretary shall regularly review existing diplomatic and consular posts to determine if any such post should be designated as a high risk, high threat post if conditions at such post or the surrounding security environment require such a designation.\n(d)\nDefinitions\nIn this section:\n(1)\nAppropriate congressional committees\nThe term \u201cappropriate congressional committees\u201d means the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate.\n(2)\nHigh risk, high threat post\nThe term \u201chigh risk, high threat post\u201d means a United States diplomatic or consular post or other United States mission abroad, as determined by the Secretary, that, among other factors\u2014\n(A) is located in a country\u2014\n(i) with high to critical levels of political violence and terrorism;
