{"identifier":"/us/usc/t22/s8511","title":22,"num":"\u00a7\u202f8511.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f8511.\nDefinitions\nIn this subchapter:\n(1)\nAgricultural commodity\nThe term \u201cagricultural commodity\u201d has the meaning given that term in\nsection 5602 of title 7\n(2)\nAppropriate congressional committees\nThe term \u201cappropriate congressional committees\u201d has the meaning given that term in section 14 of the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 (\nPublic Law 104\u2013172\n50 U.S.C. 1701\n(3)\nExecutive agency\nThe term \u201cexecutive agency\u201d has the meaning given that term in\nsection 133 of title 41\n(4)\nFamily member\nThe term \u201cfamily member\u201d means, with respect to an individual, a spouse, child, parent, sibling, grandchild, or grandparent of the individual.\n(5)\nIranian diplomats and representatives of other government and military or quasi-governmental institutions of Iran\nThe term \u201cIranian diplomat or representative of another government or military or quasi-governmental institution of Iran\u201d means any of the Iranian diplomats and representatives of other government and military or quasi-governmental institutions of Iran (as that term is defined in section 14 of the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 (\nPublic Law 104\u2013172\n50 U.S.C. 1701\n(6)\nKnowingly\nThe term \u201cknowingly\u201d, with respect to conduct, a circumstance, or a result, means that a person has actual knowledge, or should have known, of the conduct, the circumstance, or the result.\n(7)\nMedical device\nThe term \u201cmedical device\u201d has the meaning given the term \u201cdevice\u201d in\nsection 321 of title 21\n(8)\nMedicine\nThe term \u201cmedicine\u201d has the meaning given the term \u201cdrug\u201d in\nsection 321 of title 21\n(9)\nState\nThe term \u201cState\u201d means each of the several States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Guam, the United States Virgin Islands, and any other territory or possession of the United States.\n(10)\nUnited States person\nThe term \u201cUnited States person\u201d means\u2014\n(A) a natural person who is a citizen or resident of the United States or a national of the United States (as defined in\nsection 1101(a) of title 8\n1\n1 So in original.
