{"identifier":"/us/usc/t25/s2511","title":25,"num":"\u00a7\u202f2511.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f2511.\nDefinitions\nIn this chapter:\n(1)\nBureau\nThe term \u201cBureau\u201d means the Bureau of Indian Affairs of the Department of the Interior.\n(2)\nEligible Indian student\nThe term \u201celigible Indian student\u201d has the meaning given such term in\nsection 2007(f) of this title\n(3)\nIndian\nThe term \u201cIndian\u201d means a member of an Indian tribe, and includes individuals who are eligible for membership in a tribe, and the child or grandchild of such an individual.\n(4)\nIndian tribe\nThe term \u201cIndian tribe\u201d means any Indian tribe, band, nation, or other organized group or community, including an Alaska Native Village Corporation or Regional Corporation (as defined in or established pursuant to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act [\n43 U.S.C. 1601\n(5)\nLocal educational agency\nThe term \u201clocal educational agency\u201d means a public board of education or other public authority legally constituted within a State for either administrative control or direction of, or to perform a service function for, public elementary schools or secondary schools in a city, county, township, school district, or other political subdivision of a State or such combination of school districts or counties as are recognized in a State as an administrative agency for the State\u2019s public elementary schools or secondary schools.
