{"identifier":"/us/usc/t33/s1263","title":33,"num":"\u00a7\u202f1263.","heading":"Alaska village demonstration projects","text":"\u00a7\u202f1263.\nAlaska village demonstration projects\n(a)\nCentral community facilities for safe water; elimination or control of pollution\nThe Administrator is authorized to enter into agreements with the State of Alaska to carry out one or more projects to demonstrate methods to provide for central community facilities for safe water and eliminate or control of pollution in those native villages of Alaska without such facilities. Such project shall include provisions for community safe water supply systems, toilets, bathing and laundry facilities, sewage disposal facilities, and other similar facilities, and educational and informational facilities and programs relating to health and hygiene. Such demonstration projects shall be for the further purpose of developing preliminary plans for providing such safe water and such elimination or control of pollution for all native villages in such State.\n(b)\nUtilization of personnel and facilities of Department of Health and Human Services\nIn carrying out this section the Administrator shall cooperate with the Secretary of Health and Human Services for the purpose of utilizing such of the personnel and facilities of that Department as may be appropriate.\n(c)\nOmitted\n(d)\nAuthorization of appropriations\nThere is authorized to be appropriated not to exceed $2,000,000 to carry out this section. In addition, there is authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section not to exceed $200,000 for the fiscal year ending\nSeptember 30, 1978\nSeptember 30, 1979\n(e)\nStudy to develop comprehensive program for achieving sanitation services; report to Congress\nThe Administrator is authorized to coordinate with the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, the Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Secretary of the Department of the Interior, the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, and the heads of any other departments or agencies he may deem appropriate to conduct a joint study with representatives of the State of Alaska and the appropriate Native organizations (as defined in\nPublic Law 92\u2013203\nDecember 31, 1979\nJune 30, 1980\n(f)\nTechnical, financial, and management assistance\nThe Administrator is authorized to provide technical, financial and management assistance for operation and maintenance of the demonstration projects constructed under this section, until such time as the recommendations of subsection (e) are implemented.\n(g)\n\u201cVillage\u201d and \u201csanitation services\u201d defined\nFor the purpose of this section, the term \u201cvillage\u201d shall mean an incorporated or unincorporated community with a population of ten to six hundred people living within a two-mile radius.
