{"identifier":"/us/usc/t38/s5906","title":38,"num":"\u00a7\u202f5906.","heading":"Availability of legal assistance at Department facilities","text":"\u00a7\u202f5906.\nAvailability of legal assistance at Department facilities\n(a)\nIn General.\u2014\nNot less frequently than three times each year, the Secretary shall facilitate the provision by a qualified legal assistance clinic of pro bono legal assistance described in subsection (c) to eligible individuals at not fewer than one medical center of the Department of Veterans Affairs, or such other facility of the Department as the Secretary considers appropriate, in each State.\n(b)\nEligible Individuals.\u2014\nFor purposes of this section, an eligible individual is\u2014\n(1) any veteran;\n(2) any surviving spouse; or\n(3) any child of a veteran who has died.\n(c)\nPro Bono Legal Assistance Described.\u2014\nThe pro bono legal assistance described in this subsection is the following:\n(1) Legal assistance with any program administered by the Secretary.\n(2) Legal assistance associated with\u2014\n(A) improving the status of a military discharge or characterization of service in the Armed Forces, including through a discharge review board;
