{"identifier":"/us/usc/t38/s8171","title":38,"num":"\u00a7\u202f8171.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f8171.\nDefinitions\nIn this subchapter:\n(1) The term \u201cappropriate congressional committees\u201d means\u2014\n(A) the Committee on Veterans\u2019 Affairs and the Committee on Appropriations of the Senate; and\n(B) the Committee on Veterans\u2019 Affairs and the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives.\n(2) The term \u201cinformation technology\u201d has the meaning given that term in\nsection 11101 of title 40\n(3)\n(A) The term \u201cinformation technology project\u201d means a project or program of the Department (including a project or program of any element of the Department) for, or including, the acquisition or implementation of information technology.\n(B) In cases where the Secretary transmits to the Director of the Office of Management and Budget information regarding information technology investments, which may consist of individual or multiple projects, the term \u201cinformation technology project\u201d refers to an individual project or program or a grouping of multiple projects or programs resulting in the acquisition or implementation of discrete information technology.\n(4) The term \u201clife cycle costs\u201d means all direct and indirect costs to acquire, implement, operate, and maintain information technology, including with respect to costs of any element of the Department.\n(5) The term \u201cmajor information technology project\u201d means an information technology project if\u2014\n(A) the project is designated by the Secretary, the Chief Information Officer of the Department, or the Director of the Office of Management and Budget as a major information technology investment, as defined in\nsection 11302 of title 40\n(B) the dollar value of the project is estimated by the Secretary to exceed\u2014\n(i) $1,000,000,000 (as adjusted for inflation pursuant to\nsection 1908 of title 41\n(ii) $200,000,000 (as adjusted for inflation pursuant to\nsection 1908 of title 41\n(6) The term \u201cbusiness owner\u201d means, with respect to an information technology project, the program manager, project manager, or other supervisory official of the Department responsible for the project.","url":"https://projectusc.org/usc/t38/s8171.html","content":[{"t":"sec","id":"/us/usc/t38/s8171","children":[{"t":"num","text":"\u00a7\u202f8171."},{"t":"heading","text":"Definitions","tail":"\n"},{"t":"chapeau","text":"In this subchapter:"},{"t":"para","id":"/us/usc/t38/s8171/1","children":[{"t":"num","text":"(1)"},{"t":"chapeau","text":" The term \u201cappropriate congressional committees\u201d means\u2014"},{"t":"subpara","id":"/us/usc/t38/s8171/1/A","children":[{"t":"num","text":"(A)"},{"t":"content","text":" the Committee on Veterans\u2019 Affairs and the Committee on Appropriations of the Senate;
