{"identifier":"/us/usc/t41/s6101","title":41,"num":"\u00a7\u202f6101.","heading":"Advertising requirement for Federal Government purchases and sales","text":"\u00a7\u202f6101.\nAdvertising requirement for Federal Government purchases and sales\n(a)\nDefinitions.\u2014\nIn this section\u2014\n(1)\nAppropriation.\u2014\nThe term \u201cappropriation\u201d includes amounts made available by legislation under\nsection 9104 of title 31\n(2)\nFederal government.\u2014\nThe term \u201cFederal Government\u201d includes the government of the District of Columbia.\n(b)\nPurchases.\u2014\n(1)\nIn general.\u2014\nUnless otherwise provided in the appropriation concerned or other law, purchases and contracts for supplies or services for the Federal Government may be made or entered into only after advertising for proposals for a sufficient time.\n(2)\nLimitations on applicability.\u2014\nParagraph (1) does not apply when\u2014\n(A) the amount involved in any one case does not exceed $25,000;\n(B) public exigencies require the immediate delivery of articles or performance of services;\n(C) only one source of supply is available and the Federal Government purchasing or contracting officer so certifies;
