{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/s12161","title":42,"num":"\u00a7\u202f12161.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f12161.\nDefinitions\nAs used in this subpart:\n(1)\nCommuter authority\nThe term \u201ccommuter authority\u201d has the meaning given such term in section 24102(4)\n1\n1 See References in Text note below.\n(2)\nCommuter rail transportation\nThe term \u201ccommuter rail transportation\u201d has the meaning given the term \u201ccommuter rail passenger transportation\u201d in section 24102(5)\n1\n(3)\nIntercity rail transportation\nThe term \u201cintercity rail transportation\u201d means transportation provided by the National Railroad Passenger Corporation.\n(4)\nRail passenger car\nThe term \u201crail passenger car\u201d means, with respect to intercity rail transportation, single-level and bi-level coach cars, single-level and bi-level dining cars, single-level and bi-level sleeping cars, single-level and bi-level lounge cars, and food service cars.\n(5)\nResponsible person\nThe term \u201cresponsible person\u201d means\u2014\n(A) in the case of a station more than 50 percent of which is owned by a public entity, such public entity;\n(B) in the case of a station more than 50 percent of which is owned by a private party, the persons providing intercity or commuter rail transportation to such station, as allocated on an equitable basis by regulation by the Secretary of Transportation;
