{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/s1397n\u201312","title":42,"num":"\u00a7\u202f1397n\u201312.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f1397n\u201312.\nDefinitions\nIn this division:\n(1)\nAgency\nThe term \u201cagency\u201d has the meaning given that term in\nsection 551 of title 5\n(2)\nIntervention\nThe term \u201cintervention\u201d means a specific service delivered to achieve an impact through a social impact partnership project.\n(3)\nSecretary\nThe term \u201cSecretary\u201d means the Secretary of the Treasury.\n(4)\nSocial impact partnership project\nThe term \u201csocial impact partnership project\u201d means a project that finances social services using a social impact partnership model.\n(5)\nSocial impact partnership model\nThe term \u201csocial impact partnership model\u201d means a method of financing social services in which\u2014\n(A) Federal funds are awarded to a State or local government only if a State or local government achieves certain outcomes agreed on by the State or local government and the Secretary; and\n(B) the State or local government coordinates with service providers, investors (if applicable to the project), and (if necessary) an intermediary to identify\u2014\n(i) an intervention expected to produce the outcome;\n(ii) a service provider to deliver the intervention to the target population;
