{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/s16296","title":42,"num":"\u00a7\u202f16296.","heading":"Low-volume oil and gas reservoir research program","text":"\u00a7\u202f16296.\nLow-volume oil and gas reservoir research program\n(a)\nDefinition of GIS\nIn this section, the term \u201cGIS\u201d means geographic information systems technology that facilitates the organization and management of data with a geographic component.\n(b)\nProgram\nThe Secretary shall establish a program of research, development, demonstration, and commercial application to maximize the productive capacity of marginal wells and reservoirs.\n(c)\nData collection\nUnder the program, the Secretary shall collect data on\u2014\n(1) the status and location of marginal wells and oil and gas reservoirs;\n(2) the production capacity of marginal wells and oil and gas reservoirs;\n(3) the location of low-pressure gathering facilities and pipelines; and\n(4) the quantity of natural gas vented or flared in association with crude oil production.\n(d)\nAnalysis\nUnder the program, the Secretary shall\u2014\n(1) estimate the remaining producible reserves based on variable pipeline pressures;
