{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/s8622","title":42,"num":"\u00a7\u202f8622.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f8622.\nDefinitions\nAs used in this subchapter:\n(1) The term \u201cemergency\u201d means\u2014\n(A) a natural disaster;\n(B) a significant home energy supply shortage or disruption;\n(C) a significant increase in the cost of home energy, as determined by the Secretary;\n(D) a significant increase in home energy disconnections reported by a utility, a State regulatory agency, or another agency with necessary data;\n(E) a significant increase in participation in a public benefit program such as the supplemental nutrition assistance program carried out under the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (\n7 U.S.C. 2011\n42 U.S.C. 1381\n42 U.S.C. 601\n(F) a significant increase in unemployment, layoffs, or the number of households with an individual applying for unemployment benefits, as determined by the Secretary of Labor;
