{"identifier":"/us/usc/t42/s9902","title":42,"num":"\u00a7\u202f9902.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f9902.\nDefinitions\nIn this chapter:\n(1)\nEligible entity; family literacy services\n(A)\nEligible entity\nThe term \u201celigible entity\u201d means an entity\u2014\n(i) that is an eligible entity described in paragraph (1) (as in effect on the day before\nOctober 27, 1998\nOctober 27, 1998\nsection 9909 of this title\n(ii) that has a tripartite board or other mechanism described in subsection (a) or (b), as appropriate, of\nsection 9910 of this title\n(B)\nFamily literacy services\nThe term \u201cfamily literacy services\u201d has the meaning given the term in\nsection 9832 of this title\n(2)\nPoverty line\nThe term \u201cpoverty line\u201d means the official poverty line defined by the Office of Management and Budget based on the most recent data available from the Bureau of the Census. The Secretary shall revise annually (or at any shorter interval the Secretary determines to be feasible and desirable) the poverty line, which shall be used as a criterion of eligibility in the community services block grant program established under this chapter. The required revision shall be accomplished by multiplying the official poverty line by the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers during the annual or other interval immediately preceding the time at which the revision is made.
