{"identifier":"/us/usc/t46/s53101","title":46,"num":"\u00a7\u202f53101.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f53101.\nDefinitions\nIn this chapter:\n(1)\nBulk cargo.\u2014\nThe term \u201cbulk cargo\u201d means cargo that is loaded and carried in bulk without mark or count.\n(2)\nContractor.\u2014\nThe term \u201ccontractor\u201d means an owner or operator of a vessel that enters into an operating agreement for the vessel with the Secretary under section 53103.\n(3)\nFleet.\u2014\nThe term \u201cFleet\u201d means the Maritime Security Fleet established under section 53102(a).\n(4)\nForeign commerce.\u2014\nThe term \u201cforeign commerce\u201d means\u2014\n(A) commerce or trade between the United States, its territories or possessions, or the District of Columbia, and a foreign country; and\n(B) commerce or trade between foreign countries.\n(5)\nParticipating fleet vessel.\u2014\nThe term \u201cparticipating fleet vessel\u201d means any vessel that\u2014\n(A) on\n(i) meets the requirements of paragraph (1), (2), (3), or (4) of section 53102(c); and\n(ii) is less than 20 years of age if the vessel is a tank vessel, or is less than 25 years of age for all other vessel types; and\n(B) on\nDecember 31, 2014\n(6)\nPerson.\u2014\nThe term \u201cperson\u201d includes corporations, partnerships, and associations existing under or authorized by the laws of the United States, or any State, Territory, District, or possession thereof, or of any foreign country.\n(7)\nProduct tank vessel.\u2014\nThe term \u201cproduct tank vessel\u201d means a double hulled tank vessel capable of carrying simultaneously more than 2 separated grades of refined petroleum products.\n(8)\nSecretary.\u2014\nThe term \u201cSecretary\u201d means the Secretary of Transportation.\n(9)\nTank vessel.\u2014\nThe term \u201ctank vessel\u201d has the meaning that term has under\nsection 2101 of this title\n(10)\nUnited states.\u2014\nThe term \u201cUnited States\u201d includes the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, American Samoa, the Virgin Islands.\n(11)\nUnited states citizen trust.\u2014\n(A) Subject to subparagraph (C), the term \u201cUnited States citizen trust\u201d means a trust that is qualified under this paragraph.\n(B) A trust is qualified under this paragraph with respect to a vessel only if\u2014\n(i) each of the trustees is a citizen of the United States;
