{"identifier":"/us/usc/t47/s615b","title":47,"num":"\u00a7\u202f615b.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f615b.\nDefinitions\nAs used in this Act:\n(1)\nSecretary\nThe term \u201cSecretary\u201d means the Secretary of Transportation.\n(2)\nState\nThe term \u201cState\u201d means any of the several States, the District of Columbia, or any territory or possession of the United States.\n(3)\nPublic safety answering point; PSAP\nThe term \u201cpublic safety answering point\u201d or \u201cPSAP\u201d means a facility that has been designated to receive 9\u20131\u20131 calls and route them to emergency service personnel.\n(4)\nWireless carrier\nThe term \u201cwireless carrier\u201d means a provider of commercial mobile services or any other radio communications service that the Federal Communications Commission requires to provide wireless 9\u20131\u20131 service.\n(5)\nEnhanced wireless 9\u20131\u20131 service\nThe term \u201cenhanced wireless 9\u20131\u20131 service\u201d means any enhanced 9\u20131\u20131 service so designated by the Federal Communications Commission in the proceeding entitled \u201cRevision of the Commission\u2019s Rules to Ensure Compatibility with Enhanced 9\u20131\u20131 Emergency Calling Systems\u201d (CC Docket No. 94\u2013102; RM\u20138143), or any successor proceeding.\n(6)\nWireless 9\u20131\u20131 service\nThe term \u201cwireless 9\u20131\u20131 service\u201d means any 9\u20131\u20131 service provided by a wireless carrier, including enhanced wireless 9\u20131\u20131 service.\n(7)\nEmergency dispatch providers\nThe term \u201cemergency dispatch providers\u201d shall include governmental and nongovernmental providers of emergency dispatch services.\n(8)\n11\u202fSo in original.
