{"identifier":"/us/usc/t50/s3972","title":50,"num":"\u00a7\u202f3972.","heading":"Insurance rights and protections","text":"\u00a7\u202f3972.\nInsurance rights and protections\n(a)\nRights and protections\nThe rights and protections under this subchapter apply to the insured when\u2014\n(1) the insured,\n(2) the insured\u2019s legal representative, or\n(3) the insured\u2019s beneficiary in the case of an insured who is outside a State,\napplies in writing for protection under this subchapter, unless the Secretary of Veterans Affairs determines that the insured\u2019s policy is not entitled to protection under this subchapter.\n(b)\nNotification and application\nThe Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall notify the Secretary concerned of the procedures to be used to apply for the protections provided under this subchapter.
