{"identifier":"/us/usc/t6/s665a","title":6,"num":"\u00a7\u202f665a.","heading":"Intelligence and cybersecurity diversity fellowship program","text":"\u00a7\u202f665a.\nIntelligence and cybersecurity diversity fellowship program\n(a)\nDefinitions\nIn this section:\n(1)\nAppropriate committees of Congress\nThe term \u201cappropriate committees of Congress\u201d means\u2014\n(A) the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and the Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate; and\n(B) the Committee on Homeland Security and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives.\n(2)\nExcepted service\nThe term \u201cexcepted service\u201d has the meaning given that term in\nsection 2103 of title 5\n(3)\nHistorically Black college or university\nThe term \u201chistorically Black college or university\u201d has the meaning given the term \u201cpart B institution\u201d in\nsection 1061 of title 20\n(4)\nInstitution of higher education\nThe term \u201cinstitution of higher education\u201d has the meaning given that term in\nsection 1001 of title 20\n(5)\nMinority-serving institution\nThe term \u201cminority-serving institution\u201d means an institution of higher education described in\nsection 1067q(a) of title 20\n(b)\nProgram\nThe Secretary shall carry out an intelligence and cybersecurity diversity fellowship program (in this section referred to as the \u201cProgram\u201d) under which an eligible individual may\u2014\n(1) participate in a paid internship at the Department that relates to intelligence, cybersecurity, or some combination thereof;\n(2) receive tuition assistance from the Secretary; and\n(3) upon graduation from an institution of higher education and successful completion of the Program (as defined by the Secretary), receive an offer of employment to work in an intelligence or cybersecurity position of the Department that is in the excepted service.\n(c)\nEligibility\nTo be eligible to participate in the Program, an individual shall\u2014\n(1) be a citizen of the United States; and\n(2) as of the date of submitting the application to participate in the Program\u2014\n(A) have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale;\n(B) be a socially disadvantaged individual (as that term in\n1\n1 So in original.
