{"identifier":"/us/usc/t7/s5302","title":7,"num":"\u00a7\u202f5302.","heading":"Definitions","text":"\u00a7\u202f5302.\nDefinitions\nAs used in this chapter\u2014\n(1) the term \u201ccomprehensive plan\u201d means the comprehensive plan prepared under\nsection 5313 of this title\n(2) the term \u201ccoordinated program\u201d means the National Nutrition Monitoring and Related Research Program established by\nsection 5311(a) of this title\n(3) the terms \u201cInteragency Board for Nutrition Monitoring and Related Research\u201d and \u201cBoard\u201d mean the Federal coordinating body established by\nsection 5311(c) of this title\n(4) the term \u201cJoint Implementation Plan for a Comprehensive National Nutrition Monitoring System\u201d means the plan of that title dated\nAugust 18, 1981\nsection 3178 of this title\n(5) the term \u201clocal government\u201d means a local general unit of government or local educational unit;\n(6) the terms \u201cNational Nutrition Monitoring Advisory Council\u201d and \u201cCouncil\u201d mean the advisory body established under\nsection 5331 of this title\n(7) the term \u201cnutrition monitoring and related research\u201d means the set of activities necessary to provide timely information about the role and status of factors that bear on the contribution that nutrition makes to the health of the people of the United States, including\u2014\n(A) dietary, nutritional, and health status measurements;\n(B) food consumption measurements;\n(C) food composition measurements and nutrient data banks;\n(D) dietary knowledge and attitude measurements; and\n(E) food supply and demand determinations;\n(8) the term \u201cnutritional quality\u201d means\u2014\n(A) the appropriate levels of individual nutrients in the diet;\n(B) the appropriate levels between nutrients in the diet;\n(C) the bioavailability of nutrients such as absorption, digestion, and utilization;
