{"identifier":"/us/usc/t7/s8115","title":7,"num":"\u00a7\u202f8115.","heading":"Carbon utilization and biogas education program","text":"\u00a7\u202f8115.\nCarbon utilization and biogas education program\n(a)\nDefinitions\nIn this section:\n(1)\nCarbon dioxide\nThe term \u201ccarbon dioxide\u201d means carbon dioxide that is produced as a byproduct of the production of a biobased product.\n(2)\nEligible entity\nThe term \u201celigible entity\u201d means an entity that\u2014\n(A) is\u2014\n(i) an organization described in\nsection 501(c)(3) of title 26\n(ii) an institution of higher education (as defined in\nsection 1001(a) of title 20\n(B) has demonstrated knowledge about\u2014\n(i) sequestration and utilization of carbon dioxide; or\n(ii) aggregation of organic waste from multiple sources into a single biogas system; and\n(C) has a demonstrated ability to conduct educational and technical support programs.\n(b)\nEstablishment\nThe Secretary, in consultation with the Secretary of Energy, shall make competitive grants to eligible entities\u2014\n(1) to provide education to the public about the economic and emissions benefits of permanent sequestration or utilization of carbon dioxide with a primary objective of providing benefits and opportunities for rural businesses, rural communities, and utilities serving rural communities; or\n(2) to provide education to agricultural producers and other stakeholders about opportunities for aggregation of organic waste from multiple sources into a single biogas system.\n(c)\nFunding\nThere are authorized to be appropriated for each of fiscal years 2019 through 2023\u2014\n(1) $1,000,000 to carry out subsection (b)(1);
