{"identifier":"/us/usc/t8/s1536","title":8,"num":"\u00a7\u202f1536.","heading":"Custody and release pending removal hearing","text":"\u00a7\u202f1536.\nCustody and release pending removal hearing\n(a)\nUpon filing application\n(1)\nIn general\nSubject to paragraphs (2) and (3), the Attorney General may\u2014\n(A) take into custody any alien with respect to whom an application under\nsection 1533 of this title\n(B) retain such an alien in custody in accordance with the procedures authorized by this subchapter.\n(2)\nSpecial rules for permanent resident aliens\n(A)\nRelease hearing\nAn alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence shall be entitled to a release hearing before the judge assigned to hear the removal hearing.
